It is envisaged that by the end of the course the trainee will be able to answer questions on and perform the following:

  • Have a basic understanding of the industry , the dangers of working in the industry and their responsibilities as plant operators

  • Have a working knowledge of the manufacturer handbook for the particular machine to be used

  • To be able to locate and identify major components of the machinery and explain their functions

  • Be able to locate and identify steering, driving and  braking controls& explain their functions

  • Conduct all pre-operational checks in accordance with manufacturer and legislative regulations

  • Safely mount and dismount the machine

  • Start and stop the engine,  move the engine off & safely stop

  • Configure the machine for travel and manoeuvre it safely laden and unladen in open and confined spaces

  • Conduct all necessary safety checks at the work area

  • Manoeuvre machine to work area & correctly configure in readiness to carry out lifting and load handling tasks

  • Carry out lifting and load handling tasks

  • Lift and transfer loads accurately and safely in different locations

  • Load and unload external transport safely

  • Fit, adjust or remove attachments

  • Demonstrate knowledge of loading and unloading procedures for machine transportation

  • Carry out all end of shift and shut down procedures

Reach Truck

It is envisaged that at the end of the training the trainee operator will be able to answer questions on and perform the following:

  • Manoeuvre the machine to the work area and correctly configure in order to carry out lifting and load handling tasks

  • Carry out lifting and load handling tasks

  • Lift and transfer loads accurately and safely at different locations

  • Load and unload external transport safely

  • Fit, adjust or remove attachments

  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of loading and unloading procedures for machine transportation

  • Carry out all end of shift and shut down procedures

  • Lift and transfer loads accurately and safely at different locations

  • Load and un-load external transport safely

  • Fit ,adjust and remove attachments safely

  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of loading and un-loading procedures for machine transportation

  • Carry out lifting and load handling tasks

  • Lift and transfer loads accurately and safely at different locations

  • Load and unload external transport safely

  • Fit, adjust or remove attachments

  • Demonstrate knowledge of loading and unloading procedures for machine transportation

  • Carry out all end of shift and shut down procedures

  • Configure the machine for travel and manoeuvre it safely laden and un-laden over varying terrain, rough ground, inclines in open and confined spaces

  • Conduct all necessary safety checks in the work area

  • Manoeuvre the machine to the work area and correctly configure in readiness to carry out  lifting and load handling tasks

  • Carry out lifting and load handling tasks

  • Lift and transfer loads  accurately and safely at different locations

  • Lift and unload external transport safely

  • Fit, adjust and or remove attachments

  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of loading and un-loading procedures for machine transportation

  • Carry out all end of shift and shut down procedures
